have a squiz at these snaps of forgotten milk bars
Shutterbug Drew Hopper is no stranger to capturing the hidden beauties of Australia. From the ghosts of opal mining towns to crumbling stones at cemeteries, it’s the photographer’s Corner Stores series that feels like a bridge between the old worlds of Australiana and commerce, and the present they are distilled in. Shuttered doors, fading lettering, empty windows and car-less carparks – where once these stalwarts were the centre of communities, they’re now merely reminders that the centre couldn’t hold. There is, however, beauty in the nostalgia that these snaps are awash with. Spy Drew Hopper’s Corner Stores series and more on his website.
