kristin burgham's torn ceramics

By

We're used to seeing ceramics with smooth and shiny surfaces, not with torn edges and cracks running through. But it's for this reason that Kristin Burgham's perfectly imperfect vessels caught our attention. Her porcelain objects, cast in solid matte colours, simultaneously look as if they've been ripped from cardboard and pulled up from the ruins of an ancient civilisation. To create this distinct look, Kristin makes plaster moulds from scratch, a long process that involves a heck of a lot of trial and error. For a closer look into how she does it, stop by Kristin's Instagram over here.
