Ho, ho, ho, frankie friends – it’s time to get your gift-giving hat on! Lucky for you, the arty-crafty Christmas markets are rolling into town, and they’re stocked with heaps of rad pressies. Shopping at markets is not only a sweet way to score one-of-a-kind goodies, but gives local makers a much-needed boost, too. SHOP SMALL – CHRISTMAS POP-UP
Brunswick creative studio and event space Small Matters is running a little shop featuring locally made and designed gifts. Pop over to their Instagram @shopsmallpopup to take a peek at their line-up (spoiler alert: nice homewares and small-batch food and drink products await).

THE BIG DESIGN MARKET
With COVID throwing the events calendar out of whack, The Big Design market has opted for an online shopping experience this Chrissie. You might miss saying hi to makers in the flesh, but you’ll still be able to nab special discounts and find a huge range of gifts from independent designers online.

PALS POP-UP SHOP
Swing by this Melbourne pop-up to pick up some goodies from frankie favourites including Togetherness, Variety Hour, Bon Lux and Aacute. You’ll find ceramics, jewellery, clothing, homewares, art and more from over 20 independent designers and makers. See more on Instagram @palspopup.

CAMPBELLTOWN ARTS CENTRE ANNUAL MAKERS MARKET
Showcasing artwork, ceramics and jewellery from Western Sydney artists, the annual makers market at Campbelltown Art Centre also features events including a Christmas napkin printing workshop and little walk through the Japanese gardens. Why not make a day of it?

ROSE STREET MARKET POP-UPS
Fitzroy’s famous Rose Street market has a truckload of events planned in the lead-up to Christmas, and they’re happening all around Melbourne. In an excellent northside-southside collab, they’ve even opened up a shop at Como House and are taking over the grounds of Rippon Lea estate for a day. Expect food, fun and heaps of art, craft and jewellery stalls. See the full list of market locations here.
