charles h. traub’s snaps are serving up a nostalgic lunchtime treat

What do you get up to on your lunch break? A stroll around the block, perhaps, or a rush to the supermarket. These unassuming scenes might not seem like that’d be that intriguing, but in the hands of shutterbug Charles H. Traub, they’re quite the works of art. The photographer’s Lunchtime series saw him scaling the streets of Chicago, New York and a slew of European cities to snap pictures of ordinary folk at lunchtime between 1977 and 1980. The makeup is fabulous, the hair is ginormous and the sunglasses are huge – everything you’d want from a passerby of this era. Spy some of the collection on Charles’ website or nab a copy of his Lunchtime book.
