bec brittain’s parachute-inspired light sculptures
If you live in one of Melbourne’s inner-city suburbs and enjoy early mornings, then you’ve likely witnessed clusters of hot air balloons drifting through the orangey-pink sky.
New York lighting designer Bec Brittain’s sculptures remind us of those big, fascinating balloons – even though they’re actually inspired by the parachutes used by NASA during wind tunnel testing.
The whimsical sculptures are currently on display at the Emma Scully Gallery in New York, as part of Bec’s Paraciphers exhibition. But don't fret if you're not in the area – you can see more of the strange, floaty forms on the gallery’s website. You can also check out Bec's other designs by having a squiz at her website.
