Too often we spend our weekends pottering around the same old parts of town, and while we do love getting to know each nook and cranny, it becomes a little drab after a while. That's why the idea of a roadtrip has us all jittery with excitement: new streets, new adventures, new nibbles? Alright!
For any Melbourne-dwelling frankie friends, we suggest giving Ballarat a gander. There's more to the city than just Sovereign Hill (though some gold-panning and raspberry drops never go astray), like tasty tipples and locally-grown spreads, the Rockabilly Festival and crafty stores to stock up on homewares, haberdashery and vintage doodads.
If your idea of a getaway involves a spot of shopping, the Ballarat Pop-Up Shop will be in town from Friday November 29th 'til Sunday December 8th. Based in Ballarat's Backspace Gallery, it will feature art, craft and other handmade goodies from local makers, and the generous folk have offered us a bunch to give away.
One lucky dude or dudette will win a hamper worth over $350, which includes two tickets to the Ballarat Beer Festival (Saturday January 18th), produce from the Harvest Foodstore & Café, a lunch voucher for Vegas & Rose and plenty of cute and crafty products from the pop-up shop's sellers.
