If you happen to be ambling about in Melbourne on Sunday morning with a hankering for a strong brew and something slathered in glaze, we have a word of advice: run, don't walk to the Flour Market.
If you happen to be ambling about in Melbourne's Fitzroy on Sunday morning with a hankering for a strong brew and something slathered in glaze, we have a word of advice: run, don't walk to the Flour Market. A seasonal bake sale selling everything warm and scrummy, from doughnuts and croissants to milkshakes and vegan chocolate bars, it all kicks off at 9am and runs until everything on the shelves is sold out (which could be pretty early, if past events are anything to go by).
Local bakers like Pure Pie, All Day Donuts and Dr Marty's Crumpets will be setting up shop, with cups o' joe care of Everyday Coffee and plenty of gluten-free goodies for those wary of wheat. Plus, for the first time they've added an educational aspect to the delicious carbfest, with a pair of masterclasses running through the day. Learn how to use root veggies and flowers in your sweet treats from Sticky Fingers Bakery and Natasha Grogan, or get hands-on kneading dough in a bread-making class with Danjo. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it!
The whole shebang's happening at the Fitzroy Town Hall from 9am, and you can find all the details (including how to book for classes) right over here. Oh, and Sydneysiders - the inaugural Sydney Flour Market is popping up in your hood very soon (August 2nd, to be exact), so prepare yourself for an all-you-can-eat extravaganza, too.
