caspian – chloe dewe mathews
Feel like staring at some jaw-dropping snaps?
Sometimes you see landscapes so beautiful and otherworldly, it’s hard to believe they exist on Earth. That’s the feeling we get when gazing at Chloe Dewe Mathew’s snaps of the Caspian Sea. Smack bang between Europe and Asia, the Caspian is not only the world’s largest inland body of water, but a mineral-rich territory long fought over by countries including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Russia.
Chloe was so intrigued by the region, she returned multiple times over five years, documenting aspects of daily life – from the health tourists who come to bathe in crude oil, to the local religious customs. See more from Chloe over here.
