yinka ilori’s upcycled furniture

Let’s pause for a second to admire the genius of British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori here. Yinka’s murals and installations can be seen all over London town, in snazzy department store windows, out on the streets and on the grounds of art galleries. He even recently designed a skate park in Lille, France! His first love, though, was playing around with discarded furniture and drenching them in colours and patterns inspired by his Nigerian heritage. Throughout the years, Yinka has transformed old chairs by mixing and matching their frames and imprinting parts of his personal story onto them in the process. He’s taught others how to do do the same, too, reminding us all that chairs aren't just places to rest your tush, but a pretty cool vehicle for art as well.
