wendy sharpe’s ‘her shoes’ exhibition is raising money for a women’s refuge

By

Here's a good cause to get around: award-winning Sydney artist Wendy Sharpe has taken pastel to paper to create 52 drawings of shoes. From Converse sneakers and Crocs to Adidas slides and heels, many of the shoes Wendy has chosen to illustrate could be found sitting in our own wardrobes – and that’s kind of the point. Each drawing represents a woman who is killed through domestic violence each week in Australia.

The artworks are on display at Juniper Hall, Paddington, from April 29 to May 21, as part of the Her Shoes exhibition. Each lovely drawing can be purchased at the venue and online, with all proceeds raising money for Lou's Place – Sydney's only daytime drop-in centre for women experiencing domestic abuse and coercive control. Have a squiz at the exhibition website for more info about the show.
