these painted book covers tackle consumerism and the health industry
Here’s one for the self-help cynics in Melbourne: local artist Anna Hoyle is currently showing a bunch of rad work in her solo exhibition, Your choc-mint pelvik floor is so boring.
The exhibition is made up of graphic artworks and brightly-painted book covers, which have funny made-up titles like She Cooked Tuna Pasta Like A Depressed Housemate and My Clitoris: The Squashed Sultana. Anna says the works are "humorous, self-deprecating musings on the pressures of recent trends in society", and take aim at issues like the wellness industry, consumerism and advertising.
Swing by Linden New Art in St Kilda before February 27 to see the show in person, or virtually browse through the paintings over here. Melburnians can also hear Anna speak about the exhibition at a free event on February 24. Woohoo!
