spy 30 miniature quilts by kumiko frydl at the australasian quilt convention
Gather round, arty-crafty quilters and sewists – The Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) is back, and this time around, it’s heading to Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building. Kicking off on April 13th and wrapping up on April 16th, this year’s convention is jam-packed with loads of exhibitions, workshops, specialist retail stalls and parties.
Among the 2023 events is Miniature Art, Grand Designs – a collection of 30 mini-quilts by Japanese artist and author Kumiko Frydl. Each of Kumiko’s pieces are replicas of existing full-sized quilts and measure around 30cm squared.
There’ll also be a display of finalist quilts for this year’s AQC Challenge, as well as a premiere of the 2023 Australian Quilt Show. If all that sounds like it’s up your alley, swing past the Australasian Quilt Convention’s website to snag a ticket.
