molly mccammon’s textured illustrations

Today in awesome artists you should pay attention to: Scottish talent Molly McCammon. Molly studied children’s book illustration over in the UK, so it’s no surprise that her work is imbued with a sense of joy and playfulness. Her sweet, textured style extends from pictures of little ones to drawings of stylish grown-ups, and if you look closely, you’ll notice multiple layers in every work. “I have a forever-expanding library of textures, from crayon scratchings to scans of my knitted jumpers,” Molly explains. "I incorporate these digitally to add a sense of tactility to my work." Molly's favourite thing to draw is people – particularly those she sees out on the bustling streets of London. “Maybe it's not something I should admit but people watching is one of my favourite hobbies and sources of inspiration. I love quickly sketching cool outfits and silhouettes passing me by. These moments are so fleeting, so I enjoy creating a space for these characters to become permanent, both in my memory and in my work.” Have a squiz at her characters above, or see more over on Insta
