lotty lindeman’s suitcase shelves
The suitcase was invented so we could cart around our precious belongings, but aside from accompanying us on international jaunts and mini getaways, there’s not much else it can do. Back in 2009, Dutch designer Lotty Lindeman proposed a novel idea: for our luggage to double as household cabinets. Think about it – you come back from your holiday, empty your suitcase and shove it into the nearest closest. That’s a wasted opportunity, according to Lotty. For her project ‘Taseenkast’, Lotty created wooden and fabric cases that can be hung together as stylish furniture. When it’s time to jet off, users can unstrap their chosen 'shelf' and continue on their merry way. How ace is that?
