kari by kriti block-print homewares
Visiting India’s fabric shops is high on our list of craft goals, but until we can do so, we’ll happily peruse the Kari by Kriti shop instead. Filled with vibrant block-print homewares, the online store is run by Hyderabad-based Kriti Jindal, a designer and former textile buyer of 11 years. When Kriti first begun meeting traditional artisans, she learnt that many of the hand-carved blocks used in block printing are made for custom designs and never used again. Seeing the opportunity to give existing motifs a second life, Kriti decided to start Kari by Kriti. Old patterns are now stamped in new colours, and the final fabrics are cut and sewn up by local women Kriti works with through an NGO. Take a gander at more eye-pleasing prints over on Etsy.
