fashion meets art in the tent dress project
What happens when you give 10 artists a white dress and instruct them to go all out? If Brissie designer Ivy Niu’s Tent Dress Project is any indication, the answer is pure visual bliss. As part of Brisbane Fashion Month, 10 of Ivy’s signature frocks – dyed, embellished and completely reinvented by arty folks from Australia and abroad – will be on show at Newstead Studios. Should you choose to stop by, you’ll get a chance to glimpse the handiwork of Kitiya Palaskas, Phil Ferguson (aka chiliphilly), Frances Cannon, Rachel Burke, Bianca Mavrick and more. These designs aren’t merely for admiring, though. To don a special one-off creation, jump online over here – each dress will be auctioned off between May 12th–23rd (proceeds go directly to individual artist to support their work).
