ella hawkins bakes biscuits for history buffs
No, these aren't medieval wood carvings or tapestry panels. Nor are they ceramic tiles or segments from a patchwork quilt. These are the edible artworks – biscuits, to be precise – of design historian, author, and creative baker Ella Hawkins.
The intricate designs adorning Ella’s bikkies are inspired by historical artefacts, literature, costumes and textiles – from Ancient Greek pottery shards and Shakespearean garms to Tiffany lamps and medieval manuscripts. And if the impressive designs weren’t enough already, Ella also makes the biscuits in the scrummiest flavours (though we can’t imagine scoffing one down – they’re far too pretty to eat!). Take a gander at Ella’s website and Instagram if you’d like to admire more of her rad work.
