daphne christoforou’s illustrated vases

By

From a distance, these vessels by Cypriot artist Daphne Christoforou look like regular decorative vases – smooth, rounded and decked out in pleasant illustrations. But, the closer you get to the works of art, the more you realise that they’re basically ceramic picture books.

Taking inspiration from meaty issues like global warming, waste and the romanticisation of serial killers, as well as more amusing topics like “pugnacious” neighbours and the struggles of artists, Daphne's narrative-driven vases are thought-provoking and fun all at once. If you'd like to see more of her impressive pictorial creations, take a gander at her website and Instagram.
