daniel popper’s other-worldly sculptures

By

We’re mighty impressed by the work of South African installation artist Daniel Popper. His huge sculptures are so breathtakingly detailed that it would be easy to believe the giant, twisting figures were once alive. The works are often wooden, human-like entities that are adorned in greenery, making it seem like the creatures are part of the earth.

Daniel is pretty well known for creating his massive structures for music festivals and carnivals around the world, but he also works his magic for brands and exhibitions. For his exhibition titled Human Nature, which is currently showing at the Morton Arboretum in Chicago, Daniel created five enormous sculptures from steel, fibreglass, wood and natural fibres. The pieces deal with themes such as the human connection to nature, identity, balance and mythology. Pretty neat, eh? To see more jaw-dropping sculptures, have a squiz at Daniel’s website.
