You may have spotted artist Ana Popescu’s work splashed across various bits and bobs including puzzles, notebooks, throws and art cards. It’s easy to see why the Vienna-based artist's sunny scenes of villas and pools are in such high demand: each one feels like a lovely postcard from where you’d rather be. While Ana is well known for her architecture-focused works, you might have missed out on her 2018 series Shades – a number of acrylic paintings and drawings that play with shadow and texture. Ana zooms in on her surroundings – the dappled shadows a tree casts against a wall or the texture of the footpath for example – and recreates them in big, bold colours.
