a zine about plastic slippers
Walk into any Chinese $2 shop and you’ll be sure to find a shelf full of plastic sandals. Cheap, cheerful and often stamped with miscellaneous cartoon characters, the colourful slip-ons are a staple in many Asian households, though not exactly admired for their designs. But San Francisco artist Allister Lee reckons the humble plastic slipper deserves our attention. In his Flip Flop zine, Allister illustrates a variety of sandals picked up from Chinatown dollar stores, celebrating their funny, garish designs in the process. It's a real treat to flip through, and you can see more over here.
