a one-stop shop for goodies designed by women and non-binary makers

If you’ve visited Melbourne before, you’ve probably ambled past the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre on Lonsdale Street. The building was once the Queen Victoria Hospital – one of only three hospitals in the world founded, managed and staffed by women (that's pretty dang badass, if you ask us). These days, it’s a community and events space, home to a number of women-focused services, and as of very recently, officially has its own shop. Keeping in line with QVWC’s feminist ethos, the store showcases rad products from local women and non-binary artists and designers. It’s a sweet place to do a bit of gift shopping (or, uh, treating yourself), with plenty of small-run goodies on the shelves. You'll spot some familiar names like Shuh, Georgia Perry and ULO, as well as a whole bunch of talented emerging makers. If you’re not from the garden state, never fear – you can still scoop up eye-pleasing ceramics, jewellery and homewares via the online store. We recommend whipping out the notepad to get your Christmas wishlist started.
