We’re all for celebrating mums every day of the year, but when Mother’s Day rolls around, it’s only fair that we heap an extra bit of love and attention on our awesome mamas. And what better way to say "You’re the best!" than with homemade goodies?

If you'll be dishing up afternoon tea for Mum or Nan, we have it on good authority that a rustic lemon-ricotta cake – like this one by Heinstirred – is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Hein’s version is slathered with cream-cheese icing and topped with pistachios for some extra crunch. And, it looks lovely whether stacked or kept as one layer (just remember to double the recipe if you’re going for the former).
