This lovely songstress brings us a little tune about our favourite pastime: snoozing.

There’s nothing we love more than hitting the snooze button and getting a few extra cheeky minutes of shut-eye, which is probably why we fell a wee bit in love with “Sleep”, the pretty new tune from Danielle Deckard’s End of the World EP. Hit play on the video below to watch the delightful dream-induced video clip shot in the streets of Sydney (Danielle’s adopted hometown), then scroll a little further to read our chat with the talented lady about what inspires her music, and a few things you might not know about New Jersey.

Tell us a little about yourself. I’m from New Jersey. I love writing songs, eating cheese, drinking wine (and beer) and reading fantasy novels.

Who got you into music? Good question. I don’t really think it was any one person. It interested me really early on and I was very self-motivated with music. Luckily my parents also encouraged any activity that made me happy.

Describe your sound in five words. Indie, pop, vibrant, lush, colourful.

When do you feel the most creative? Early in the morning, during that first cup of coffee for the day. My mind is always freshest earlier in the day.

What was your inspiration for “Sleep”? “Sleep” is about the desire to escape from your mind. Everyone has those moments when they are disappointed in themselves and where they are in life. Rather than dealing with it, sometimes you just want to make that inner turmoil shut up for a bit.

Where’s your favourite place to hang out on a Saturday night? Home on my couch in sweatpants with Gilmore Girls on Netflix. And snacks. Or out to dinner at my local Italian restaurant. Most things I do revolve around food.

Tell us something we might not know about New Jersey. It’s full of farms and we have the best tomatoes. A lot of Australians assume I’m from the part of New Jersey that’s right near New York. But I’m actually from a small city three hours away, full of farms and endless suburbs.

What’s your comfort food of choice? Thai. Always Thai. Although lately I’ve been craving American-style Chinese takeout. It is its own thing. However, it is nowhere to be found in Sydney.

If you could have a drink with any musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you drink? Ingrid Michaelson. I think we’d have a lot to chat about. I’d stick to beer, a nice IPA, because wine goes to my head.

What can we expect from you in the next year? A whole lot of new music. I’m working on three separate recording projects at the moment, including my first full-length album. It’s an exciting time.
