We've become rather fond of these Perth boys called The Chemist, and it's not just to do with their keen ear for mixing the right concoction of tunes.

They've been going at this whole music thing for over five years now and have worked out how to sit the fence between some of our most loved acts across a range of eras, like Billie Holiday and Tom Waits. Plus their drummer is actually called Elliot Smith. Which is incredibly awesome.

Their lead lad, Benjamin Kevin Witt, said this about the record making process: "I would do the shopping, bring home the ingredients and then we would cook as a band." Not a bad general metaphor for life, eh?

Their debut album Ballet In The Badlands is out on March 22nd, but they just released a new single called "Silver and Gold" yesterday - listen out for it on the radio. More here.
