The Atelier Choux collection is so gosh darn charming, oui oui?

Bonjour! It’s time to break out your high school French – apologies in advance to any horrified French-speaking readers – because we’ve spotted the world’s most adorable brand of baby goodies. If you’re a new parent, or you’ve got a new parent in your life, and you’d like to see the baby or the baby’s nursery embody effortless Parisian whimsy (who wouldn’t?), promenade over to Metro Baby, an Australia-based online baby shop selling curated local and international products. And voila! They’ve got their mitts on baby clothes, baby accessories and nursery decor from Atelier Choux, a gender-neutral French lifestyle brand whose aesthetic is inspired by 19th-century Hausmannian buildings in Paris. Other signature motifs include hot air balloons, carousels, pretty flowering trees and fanciful animal scenes (like this snail with an actual timber house on its back. What’s French for ‘squee’?!).

Atelier Choux is especially known for its carrés, a typically elegant French term for an all-purpose baby cloth that can be used as a swaddle, bib, light summer blanket or a cover when breastfeeding. They’re made from hypoallergenic GOTS-certified organic cotton and baby-safe ink, and they’re machine-washable (an absolute must for any new mums and dads out there).

We’re especially partial to the elaborate designs by Swedish illustrator Mattias Adolfsson, who’s responsible for much of Atelier Choux’s look. His fun, humorous and fantastical illos have been featured in The New Yorker and Wired, and they’ll make you want to sweep your petite chou (French for little cauliflower, of course) off to Paris for a swing around a carousel and a crawl around the Jardin des Tuileries. Metro Baby has plenty of their goods in stock, including bibs, onesies, cushions, cot sheets, blankets and even a special Christmas swaddle for December bubs. Whether you’ve got a bun in the oven or a baby shower in your future, pop over to Metro Baby for Atelier Choux and other essential items for the littles in your life.
