the clunes booktown festival is back
Gather round, bookish friends.
About 10 years ago, the quaint Victorian town of Clunes became the first in the Southern Hemisphere (and the 15th in the world) to be named an 'International Book Town' by the International Organisation of Book Towns. A community-wide love of literature is perhaps the most wholesome thing a rural town can be known for, if you ask us. (Also, when can we move in?)
Next month, the annual Clunes Booktown Festival will return for a packed weekend of thought-provoking conversations between writerly folk, tasty local food, wine and produce, and, of course, the opportunity to buy old, new and rare books from more than 50 knowledgable traders. This year, the festival's opening panel features Melbourne School of Discontent founders Jacqui Katona, Tony Birch and Gary Foley. Authors joining the festivities include Jock Serong, JP Pomare, Eliza Hull, Don Watson, Sean O’Beirne, Chloe Hooper, Fiona Scott Norman, Arnold Zable and Jacinta Parsons (plus a whole lot more). If all that sounds up your alley, peep the program and snap up a ticket by popping over to the festival website.
Clunes Booktown Festival runs from April 30 to May 1.
