Some lovely folks in Japan are stitching toys together to raise awareness for organ donation.

Remember when you left your favourite toy too close to the heater and melted off a little part of its head? Or you fought over it with some chronic butthead in the playground, and ended up ripping it in two? Well, the philanthropic folks at Second Life Toys are repairing playthings – and children’s hearts everywhere – using the limbs and body parts of other toys as a way to raise awareness of the importance of organ transplants.

Whether a doll, teddy or action figure, anyone can donate a toy to the Japan-based project, either to receive a transplant or act as a donor. Head down the donor route and you’ll even get a letter of thanks from the owner of the toy you saved. Pretty sweet, eh? Head on over to their website for full details and more snaps of their adorable handiwork.
