phillip barlow's out of focus art
No, you haven't misplaced your glasses. This is just the awesomly out-of-focus work of Cape Town artist Phillip Barlow.
No, you haven't misplaced your glasses. This is just the awesomely out-of-focus work of Cape Town artist Phillip Barlow. There are many artists who are working within the hyper-realist field at the moment, creating artworks that look like photographs in a house of mirrors. However, Phil's work takes that notion to a different level by taking off his glasses. His oil paintings resemble the between points when we are setting the aperture on our lomo camera, or the bursts of sunlight mingling with raindrops on the lens. We can hardly paint a straight line without our specs, never mind his colour-soaked landscapes.
For loads more of Phil's work, have a gander over at his portfolio. Don't look at them too long though - after a little while the lines start to blur on the screen around you, and you may get stuck in some middle land between clear and fuzzy. Let's just hope the wind doesn't change.
