Did you know that the expression “lucky break” comes from the tradition of snapping a wishbone apart? Originating in Ancient Rome, the custom entails two comrades curling their little fingers around the ends of a wishbone and pulling it till it breaks. Whoever ends up with the bigger piece is the lucky one. An odd custom, by any stretch of the imagination – but a fun one, nonetheless.
