madrid’s colourful crossings

Bulgarian artist Christo Guelov has turned Madrid’s zebra crossings into a treat for local folks’ eyeballs, filling in the grey gaps with colourful shapes and stripes. The project, called Funnycross, isn’t intended to detract from the crossing – on the contrary, the point is to enhance it, improving both local drivers’ and pedestrians’ attention. Lovely to see a bit of public art that’s also improving road safety, isn’t it? Get a squiz at Christo’s work in our little gallery just below, then head over to his website to see much, much more.
