hoopla exhibition
You don't have to have lived through the moon landing to enjoy getting busy with a needle and thread, and the fab people over at He Made She Made are proving it with a very stitch-happy exhibition.
Mention the words "embroidery art" and a gaggle of scone-baking, doily-loving CWA ladies probably come to mind. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course – CWA, we love you so!) These days, though, you don't have to have lived through the moon landing to enjoy getting busy with a needle and thread, and the fab people over at He Made She Made are proving it with a very stitch-happy exhibition.
Called HOOPLA, it features a lineup of local and international artists and some whopping, large-scale embroidery hoops. Folk like Maricor Maricar, Adam France, Maria Aparicio Puentes and Jordan Clarke have put their modern spin on the traditional crafty artform, and you can see the results from 6pm tonight at their venue in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
And if you can't make it along this evening, don't fret – you'll have a chance to gawk at the impressive needlework until November 15th.
