Remember when macarons were ‘on trend’ and everyone went a bit nutso for a while as every bakery seemed to offer multiple flavours and bulk packs? Thankfully, we don’t follow trends – we know good food sticks around and are thrilled these French treats haven’t gone anywhere.
If you’ve never made them before, here’s the perfect recipe for you: food blogger Lydia of Island Bakes has put together a scrummy holiday recipe for gingerbread macarons, and just reading the ingredient list is enough to make your mouth water.
Lydia does caution that macarons can be a bit fiddly to make, but don’t let that deter you. Even if they turn out a tad misshapen, you’ve made freaking macarons, and the smell of ginger and cinnamon will have your loved ones flocking towards your kitchen for more.
