Nothing brightens up a wintry day better than cupcakes and pom poms, so why not make every meal a cute party with pom pom place mats?

This is the easiest DIY you'll ever do, as all it involves is a little bit of gluing and cutting.

PomPomPlacematDIYMaterials

MATERIALS:

1/2 yard of gingham fabric in as many colours as you want place mats
Pom poms (you'll find ones like I used in your local $2 shop)
Pinking shears
Glue gun
The biggest plate you'll use on your place mat

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Place your fabric's wrong sides together and place your plate on top. Cut a rectangle around your plate, leaving enough room to scatter and glue on your pom poms.

2. Glue around the edges of the wrong side of one of your fabric pieces. Place the wrong side of your other fabric piece on top and press firmly together. The pinking shears create an edge that won't fray. Alternatively, sew around the edges if you're handy with a sewing machine.

3. Put your plate back on top and start to glue your pom poms on. Glue one colour at a time so that you can form a nice pattern.

4. Keep gluing on your pom poms until you are satisfied with the pattern. You can make it one colour only, or a party of bright colours like ours.

All that's left to do now is make a whole bunch more for your friends when they come over too!
