frankie christmas wishlist – kelsey caruana
These gifts are for the cooks, crafters and outdoorsy folk.
Judging from her Christmas wishlist, our digital marketing manager Kelsey has quite a few hobbies. Sewing patterns? Cook books? A device used for climbing?! This gal is busy! If you know someone who is also a hobbyist, take a glance at Kelsey’s picks below.
Clockwise from top-left:
1. Chunky, oversized jewellery is back, baby. My inner-10-year-old is ecstatic – except now instead of pairing fluoro singlets from Supré with massive neon bangles from Diva, I want to be wearing this necklace by Vermeer Studio with some chic ballet flats (like the ones below).
2. I’m half Italian and half Maltese, and I bet you can guess which side comes through… stronger (or should I say, più forte!). So to pay homage to my quieter, more humble Maltese roots, I’d love to explore the recipes by Simon Bajada in his cookbook that features dishes from Malta and its surrounding islands.
3. It’s hard to define where exactly my sugar addiction ends and my baking one begins. Let’s just say that in the past couple of years, both have grown exponentially. When it comes to baking, I’m learning that the equipment you use really does make all the difference, so if Santa wants croquembouche instead of cookies this year, he’s gonna need to pop a KitchenAid Stand Mixer under the tree for me.
4. It’s no wonder the Phoebe mesh flats by Nelson Made are always sold out… who wouldn’t want to wear a pair of shoes that are essentially a sparkly and suave disco for your tootsies?
5. On the long list of dreams I have for this life – visit Antarctica, go wedding-cake-taste-testing (wedding non-essential), own a dishwasher – becoming a sewing expert is up there. How will I do it? Willpower, determination and by making as many of Puff And Pencil’s glorious patterns as possible, like this pretty halter top.
6. This sheer and wispy skirt by Permanent Vacation has my fullest attention. I yearn for hot summer days wearing this beauty to the park, the pub, the pool – you name the place, I’ll be there wearing this.
7. Anyone who works with balled yarn knows the absolute torment that comes with trying to keep that fibrous rascal exactly where you need it. This little yarn bowl serves as the perfect crafter’s helper, all while looking cute as heck!
8. I’m in my hobby era, can you tell? There’s sewing and baking and knitting, and before you write me off as a textbook trad wife, know that my greatest hobby of all is climbing. My strongest asset is, well, my fingers, and these digits need daily workouts to keep them in tip-top shape, which is exactly what this aesthetically pleasing hangboard offers!
9. I already own a few pieces from YouSwim, and folks, you can believe the hype – these swimsuits are freaking unreal! I’ll happily add this sweet little Yuzu number to my summer collection.
10. Towels have got to be the most cost effective, gender-neutral, actually-usable, Kris Kringle-able gifts out there. So have fun with it. This colourful towel from Baggu is all sorts of wonderful, and I want it draped around me ASAP.
