frankie christmas wishlist – emma do
Short of a Chrissie gift or two? Peep our editor’s round-up of delightful stocking stuffers.
Emma Do has an eye for creative and cool stuff (which is one of the many reasons why she’s the editor of this here magazine). If you’re in need of a few more sweet things to pop under a tinsel-topped tree, then take a gander at Emma’s wishlist.
Clockwise from top-left:
1. I am confident that I could walk into Sydney’s HANDS store blindfolded and come out with something extremely cute and worth gifting to someone. This place is an emporium of quirky objects, and I am swooning over the Aderia tumbler.
2. I am that person who, no matter the suggested quantity, will double the amount of garlic in a recipe. Garlic is flavour! Garlic is life! The garlic girl that illustrator Mel Stringer has depicted on this Casetify phone case? That’s me!
3. I’m pretty partial to some Australiana – and to Sydney label Romance Was Born in general. I love how this Gumnut baby swimsuit combines nostalgia with a touch of psychedelia.
4. The last time I tried cross stitch, I vastly overestimated my needlework abilities and ‘free-handed’ something heinous that I’ve since stuffed into a box and never touched. Thankfully, this kit from Crafty Cowgirl’s collab with Luke John Matthew Arnold comes with instructions and a pattern that I will follow to the letter.
5. Just about everyone in the frankie office is a fan of illustrator Michelle Christensen and her fashion label My Little Belleville – myself included. What’s not to love about these painterly strokes and luck-bringing motifs?
6. Hoo boy, would I get a kick out of leaving a Nonna’s Grocer apple candle in my fruit bowl and seeing which one of my mates falls for it. Muahaha.
7. If La Niña lets up a bit, I might finally get the chance to get out of my Docs and jump into these Nelson Made Raul sandals. I’m digging this classic style, even if it’ll give me funny tan lines by the end of summer (worth it).
8. Home décor was never one of my passions, but, like everyone else it seems, I came out of lockdown obsessing over lamps. First it was the mushroom lamp, and now it’s this portable Flowerpot design from Finnish Design Shop – it’s a cordless version of Vernon Panton’s iconic 1968 design.
9. Why did these Egg Soda ceramic pins make me choke on my water? Something about the combination of a forlorn pup and the word SLAY just makes me chortle.
10. My overflowing stationery drawer is staring at me now and saying, “Really?! You need another roll of wrapping paper?” Yes, I really do, because this one has the cutest print from illustrator Phoebe Wahl.
