Doug Bloodworth's lifelike brushstrokes remember a time when entertaining yourself involved comic books and strawberry milk, instead of smart phones and bacon-flavoured everything.

We were already smitten with these images dotted with dominos, pecan pie and the Sunday funnies, and then we realised they weren't just happy snaps from someone with great taste in snacks and hobbies, but ridiculously photorealistic oil paintings.

Which begs the question: HOW ARE THESE REAL? Los Angeles-based Doug Bloodworth's been in the arty biz since back in the '70s, and he's clearly picked up some incredible skills along the way. With a hint of Americana, his lifelike brushstrokes remember a time when entertaining yourself involved comic books and strawberry milk (instead of smart phones and bacon-flavoured everything) and we're pretty darn grateful for the trip down memory lane.
