Some music fans show their devotion by wearing a band tee or flinging a pair of knickers on stage. Queenslander Natalie Selezneva, however, prefers to express her fandom through craft. Or more specifically, giant, larger-than-life-size cross-stitch.
First taking a Depeche Mode CD for a spin when she was 13 years old and living in Russia, Natalie began the mammoth tapestry (which is based on an early-'80s poster from Smash Hits magazine) just three short years later. After seven years of stitching, over two kilometres of thread and countless pricked fingers, the tribute to the '80s electro musicians is finally complete – and we recommend checking it out, because it's a gosh-darn corker.
