Forget dessert for breakfast. How about breakfast for dessert?

Sometimes we think back on the stuff our parents let us eat for brekkie, and wonder how on earth we got away with consuming so much sugar before school every morning. Those rainbow-coloured rings known as Froot Loops, for example, are so sugary that the milk they bob around in could qualify as a sweet drink in its own right.

Some might argue that slurping up the sickly, tepid cereal milk is the best part of the meal. We assume that food blogger Jacie from Stirring Up Happiness is one such person, since she came up with a cake recipe that incorporates cereal milk into its batter and buttercream icing.

Not everyone is a Froot Loops fan, but we reckon this recipe would work with just about any sugary cereal (we’re dying to try a Coco Pops version). Pop over here if you’d like to have a crack at it yourself.

To accompany you while you embark on your next culinary quest, we’ve cooked up some lovely kitchen merch, including three colourful tea towels and a flower-power apron. Find the lot over at the frankie shop.
