Oil paintings that feel like a dream.

Sydney artist Charlie Bennell creates the kinds of tranquil scenes that could only appear in our most blissful dreams (or in magical places like La Muralla Roja).

To make her oil paintings, Charlie takes inspiration from the structural elements of existing architectural spaces and reimagines them in rich hues like coral and lilac. Adding a large crescent moon here and a terrazzo wall there, Charlie says she explores the “increasing need for introspection and meditative spaces” through her work. (Does that mean gazing at one of her eye-pleasing pieces for a few minutes counts as meditation? We sure hope so.)
