Thrift, swap and discover new designers from around the city.

The 2023 instalment of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival is fast approaching, pals, so if you’re thinking of attending a runway, workshop or exhibition between March 3rd and 11th, you best get a wriggle on!

As part of the festival, there are a few ace fashion markets happening around the city that we’re keen to check out.

BIPOC MARKET, MELBOURNE
Hosted by the rad folks at CBD bar Section 8, this free market will be packed with designers and artists from Melbourne’s BIPOC community. If you fancy having a squiz at all the clothes and accessories they’ll be selling, head here for the deets.

CONSCIOUS FASHION MARKET, SOUTH BANK
We love brands that use responsible and ethical methods of production around these parts, so our ears pricked up when we heard that Melbourne designers and creatives are meeting up for a conscious fashion market. This event is free, but you need to register to secure a spot.

A PLUS MARKET, MELBOURNE
Swing past the Queen Victoria Market with $5 in hand to check out loads of size-inclusive fashion brands. Clothing sold at the A Plus Market will range from sizes 16–32+ and XL+. There’ll be plenty of makers, artists and foodies selling their stuff, too. More info over here.

TRASHIE: CLOTHING EXCHANGE, MELBOURNE
Don’t throw out those old duds (unless they are no longer fit to be worn, as we recently learnt), swap them! At Trashie, fashionable folk will meet up to exchange their pre-loved items of clothing. It’s recommended that attendees bring along four to eight items that they feel other market-goers might find value in. Buy a ticket to the event here.

REVAMP THRIFT FASHION MARKET, NORTHCOTE
This thrift market will take over Welcome to Thornbury with dozens of pre-loved fashion stalls. (Though the usual music, food trucks and bar will be running on the day, too.) Snagging a pre-purchased ticket will get you a drink discount, but there’ll also be tickets at the door in the arvo. Find all the info you need here.
