The Big Anxiety isn’t your average arts festival.

Listen up, Brisbane pals – an award-winning festival that aims to change the way we address mental health and suicide is hitting your area next month. Through a series of free and paid events, The Big Anxiety will explore the use of art and creative technology to navigate anxiety, stress, trauma and even suicidality. There will be virtual reality, immersive media, performances, workshops, talks and more – all of which are designed to support super-important conversations and actions around mental health.

University of New South Wales professor Jill Bennett founded the festival because she believes raising awareness about mental health is no longer enough. "We need new ways of thinking, imagining, feeling and acting and resources that are both practical and inspiring,” she says. If you tend to agree, then swing past The Big Anxiety website for more info.

The Big Anxiety runs from February 9-12 at QUT Gardens Point Theatre, Brisbane.

UPDATE: The Big Anxiety has been rescheduled due to COVID-19. Check the event website for updates.
