It’s not everyday that we get the chance to peruse over 230 ripper homeware, ceramics, fashion, jewellery, book, art and stationery stalls all in one place. This Friday September 18th to Sunday September 20th, The Big Design Market is coming back to Carriageworks in Sydney/Warrane, and we can’t bloody wait to get our mitts on a whole heap of niceness. While over 200 brands are bringing their good stuff to the market over three days, we’ve combed through the designers to dish up seven of the top-notch ones we’ll be looking out for first. BROOKLYN BOY BAGELS Alrighty folks, before you go hunting the aisles for bits and bobs to bring back home, you’d best get some fuel in that tank. Thankfully, Sydney’s “first true artisan" New York bagel maker and bakery Brooklyn Boy Bagels will be slinging up some doughy treats for hungry tummies. BUSH MEDIJINA This 100 per cent Indigenous-owned, women-led social enterprise that donates 100 per cent of its profits back into communities is a must-visit biz at the Big Design Market. Bush Medijina was started by a group of women on Groote Eylandt with a mission of preserving and celebrating the healing power of native bush medicines. Today, they’ve got everything from weeping tea tree hair oil to Merrika leaf-infused lip balms.

MISU JUJU Melbourne/Naarm-based printmaker and illustrator Julie (aka Misu Juju) is making the trip up the coast to bring Sydneysiders her collection of lovely stuff. From the most adorable lino prints you’ll ever lay your peepers on to sets of the cutest li’l iron-on patches you ever did see, if you’re partial to a dash (or a whole bloody splash) of adorableness, then make sure to stop past Julie’s stall.

NOC NOC Have a squiz at the good stuff from local glass sculptor Jem Nockles – aka Noc Noc – and prepare to be dazzled. Each piece is handmade by Jem, with a considered focus placed on light and colour in domestic and functional objects found around the house.
