see new art from rachel burke at this upcoming show
Grab your glitter pen and mark this one in the diary, frankie friends: artist, designer and tinsel queen Rachel Burke is showing a bunch of new technicolour artworks at Sydney’s Saint Cloche gallery this November.
While you might be most familiar with Rachel’s fun and frothy creations, her upcoming show Cute Tomb is a little more personal, exploring how to make peace with your past. It all started when Rachel discovered a pile of letters she'd written to friends as a teenager. “I felt shocked to encounter the people and stories that were reflected back in the pages,” she says. “It was as though these letters had been written by total strangers.” Rachel created vivid paintings, illustrations and sculptures as a way of processing uncomfortable feelings, 'embalming' the old letters to preserve and accept her past self. Intrigued? Rachel will be kicking off the exhibition with a 24-hour live painting session. For more details, keep your eyes on Rachel’s Instagram and the Saint Cloche website.
