konekono kitsune’s garden of embroidered vegetables
Certain things in life make for the perfect embroidery muse. Cats, for example, always look cute when in tiny, hand-stitched form. But vegetables? We never knew they could look so good. Japanese artist Konekono Kitsune has been embroidering for many years. She tells Claire at Le Temps De Broder that her grandmother loved embroidery, so she has been familiar with the craft since she was young.
Konekono was initially inspired by the vegetables growing in her very own garden. The results are stunning, and so very lifelike – take a look at the texture of her avocado! Each delicate leaf of the herbs she weaves is so perfectly, tenderly placed, and frankly we aren’t sure how she creates those colours without witchcraft. Her work reminds us to slow down, tend to our gardens, and focus on one small task – or stitch – at a time. Peep her Instagram for more.
