daily blooms in support of refugee women

Like many other events and hospitality businesses, Merchant Road has been hit hard by lockdown restrictions this year. The Melbourne social enterprise, which trains and employs women from refugee backgrounds, was preparing for a huge season of weddings and food-based merrymaking, when everything had to be cancelled indefinitely. Faced with an empty calendar, the team experimented with a pop-up florist studio for Mother’s Day. Thankfully, it was a hit.

The event did so well, they’ve now launched a flower delivery service called The Beautiful Bunch. A fresh bunch of blooms costs $60 and can be delivered to anywhere in Melbourne. Most importantly, every bouquet keeps women in work during difficult times, and equips them with top-notch skills, to boot. Program participants train with talented florists including Melanie Stapleton and the staff at Cecilia Fox, and their seasonal arrangements are inspired by charming cottage gardens. If you'd like to order some for yourself or a pal, head right this way.
