this new play explores indigenous identity and life in the big city
Treat yourself to an introspective play that explores community, family and culture in contemporary Australia.
Going to the theatre is always a sure-fire way to feel fancy and cultured, and Melbourne Theatre Company has you covered with a new sharp-witted production bound to make you appreciate the magic of live performance.
Brought to you by playwright Declan Furber Gillick and director Mark Wilson (who previously worked together on the award-winning Bighouse Dreaming), Jacky follows the life of a young Indigenous man busy trying to navigate the murky waters of contemporary life when his little brother returns back into Jacky’s compartmentalised world which soon threatens to crumble under his feet. The play will run from May 22 – June 24 at Arts Centre Melbourne with First Nations individuals invited to nab a ticket for $29 on 25 May for Community Night.
