While little silk headscarves are usually the domain of church-going nonnas or Jackie Onassis tributes, New Zealand brand BESS is doing well to convince us of their merits in our daily wardrobe. For the summer 2018 collection, designer Nicole Sykes took her cues from Osaka’s neon alleyways, splashing her square scarves in poppy colours and bold graphics your grandma wouldn't be caught dead in. With nary a pearl necklace or knee-length skirt in sight, the BESS lookbook makes a strong case for pairing a ladylike scarf with your oversized tees and faded jeans. Sorry, nan.
