We’re very proud to present you with the exclusive Aussie premiere of Santigold’s spanking new album, 99 Cents. Wahoo!
Waxing lyrical (quite literally) on our unrealistic pursuit of perfection, the sounds are big and so is the social critique – in other words, Santi’s back and doing what she does best.
“We have no illusion that we don’t live in this world where everything is packaged,” Santigold says. “People’s lives, persona, everything is deliberate and mediated. It can be dark and haunting and tricky and freak us out, but it can also be silly and fun and we can learn to play with it.”
With part of the new record written during a stint in the tropical forests of Jamaica, 99 Cents is full of sunny, brash and playful melodies to pop into your ear holes. And for the next week, until the album is officially released, you can only listen here.
