Here's something to commit to the memory bank of places-that-I-simply-must-visit-one-day. Found in Hokuto, Japan, this magical one-legged building blows our childhood treehouse fantasies out of the blossom-filled forest. Accessible only by a single ladder and fitted with a peaked roof, sweet chimney and beautiful leadlight windows, the fairytale-like teahouse was designed by architect Terunobu Fujimori as a place to sip warm brews and have a gander at the cherry blossoms while they're in full bloom. Sure, it seems a little precarious, perched high up atop one solo tree trunk, but Terunobu assures us it's been built to withstand any stormy weather and earthquakes that are thrown its way.
